About the Property
In the heart of one of Charlotte’s largest and fastest-growing communities, Larkhall at Highland Creek is a seven-acre, mixed-use development. It includes 89 new-build, three-story townhomes and 4,000 SF of retail, and answers the demand for affordably priced, build-for-rent townhomes in an area where there is currently little inventory and price points are high.
For Larkhall, Beauxwright has partnered with White Point, who is leading the retail construction and leasing, and Copper Builders, who is utilizing a custom homebuilder approach to the design and construction of the townhomes. The developers are working with investment firm Cross Lake Partners, based out of New York City.
Our goal with Larkhall is to create a setting within the established Highland Creek community that combines suburban comfort and urban walkability. This is an increasingly important factor for people considering townhome living, especially millennials. On foot, there is close proximity to four shopping centers. For commuting, residents have easy access to three interstates – I-485, I-77 and I-85 – making Larkhall a central point between Uptown Charlotte, UNCC and Charlotte-Douglas International Airport.
The property is currently in the first phase of development. Construction will utilize a custom approach in every aspect of the design, from the finishes to the unit layouts. Style inspiration comes from European villages, as well as the feel of the Pacific Northwest, with earth tones, white Hardie siding, sage and dark olive bases, and black roofs as part of the design aesthetic.
Smaller lot sizes and vertical construction are key elements of Larkhall’s walkable urban village concept, with spacious layouts on each floor, and dedicated garage parking on the street level. The built-in retail component of the project will offer grocery, dining and other services in close proximity.
The name of the development was inspired by the two parts of the larger community name. “Highland” evokes the ruggedly beautiful terrain of Scotland, and Larkhall is the name of a Scottish village. “Creek” refers to the nearby creek, home of many birds and wildlife. The streets within Larkhall are named for birds, so the “Lark” within “Larkhall” continues this avian theme.
