Copper Builders is moving its headquarters into one of the city's fastest-growing neighborhoods. The Charlotte-based homebuilder is leaving its SouthPark office at 5555 Fairview Road for a 4,800-square-foot space at 1900 West Morehead St. in FreeMoreWest. The new space was designed with optimization and functionality in mind, said Wade Miller, Copper Builders founder.

Miller said the company's recent growth was the catalyst for finding new office space. The building's location in the FreeMoreWest, its proximity to uptown and beautiful views made signing the lease an easy decision. The amenities at 1900 West Morehead include a second-floor terrace, wet bar and dining area.

"We now have room to accommodate our expanding team," Miller said. "But more importantly, the high quality and synergistic relationships between Beauxwright, BB+M and the other tenants are going to make this a powerhouse for real estate projects in the Carolinas."

Real estate investment and development firm Beauxwright purchased the vacant building for about $3.6 million in 2020, according to Mecklenburg County real estate records. The 35,836-square-foot building was redeveloped by the firm in partnership with BB+M and opened in 2022. The 1900 West Morehead building opened in 1957 and was previously home to a family-run vending machine distribution business.

Beauxwright and BB+M Architecture occupy the two-story building's second floor. Other tenants include consulting and marketing agency Bespoke Sports & Entertainment and marketing agency Broadhead.

Andy Lucas, principal at Beauxwright, said the addition of Copper Builders is a sign that 1900 West Morehead is emerging as a hub for Charlotte’s architecture, home building and real estate development sectors.

“It’s exciting to welcome Copper Builders to our building and neighborhood,” he said. “It means we can further strengthen our collaboration with a trusted partner who will now be just a few steps away.”

Copper and Beauxwright are currently partnering on several projects across the region, including Cascadia at Highland Creek, a built-to-rent townhome and retail project in north Charlotte; Radial Townhomes, a 58-unit build-to-rent community at the intersection of Monroe and Idlewild roads and Independence Boulevard; and McNeil Court, a 3.8-acre for-sale development in of Greenville, South Carolina.
